Hispanic Small Business Event Provides Survival Tips on How to Survive Tough Economic Times

Los Angeles, CA –May 21, 2008– “Su Socio de Negocios” the free grassroots small business expo and breakfast seminar series presented by El Clasificado to Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs was attended on May 13th by close to 100 Hispanic small business owners. The event, hosted at El Clasificado headquarters, included an interactive panel discussion on alternative funding solutions for small businesses, as well as many other little-known assistance programs provided by local Los Angeles government agencies.

Representatives from the City of Los Angeles’s Community Development Department (CDD), the Minority Business Opportunity Center (MBOC), and the Microbusiness Loan Experts at Confianza, Inc. volunteered their time to explain the benefits and disadvantages of various financial programs that exist for small business owners, while the crowd took copious notes and asked several questions of the distinguished panel.

“One of the main initiatives of the City of Los Angeles is to inform business owners that there are a multitude of money-saving programs and tax incentives available, and which too few people are taking advantage of,” commented Jorge Guzman, Business Development Manager for the CDD.

David Moran of QSP Insurance is a microbusiness owner who came away pleased with the quality of information he received. “The panelists provided excellent information and ways to save money, which is what we business owners need during these times of economic difficulty.”

In addition to the interactive panel discussion, the attendees were treated to a complimentary breakfast and had the unique opportunity to interact face-to-face with several corporate sponsors that cater to micro enterprises. Event sponsors for this “Su Socio de Negocios” small business breakfast event were Bancomer, Time Warner Cable Business Class, State Farm Insurance and Sprint.

“Su Socio de Negocios” (www.susociodenegocios.com) is a series of free small business training workshops in Spanish that are held in different grassroots Hispanic communities throughout the year.
