Covington Electric Cooperative, Inc., is seeking an Accountant Under direction of the V.P. of Finance & Member Relations responsible for analyzing financial information and preparing financial reports to document or maintain records of assets, liabilities, processing accounts payable, profit and loss, and other financial activities within CEC. Evaluates, audits, and maintains accounts and transaction processing to ensure GAAP compliance. Must have Bachelor's degree in Accounting or business-related field, or an appropriate combination of training, education, and experience. Must have high-level of accounting and analytical skills to include spreadsheets, general ledger, financial statements, reports, state taxes, procedures, and policies applicable to accounting responsibilities. Must be able to study trends in the operations of the Cooperative and recommend improvements, especially in the areas of planning and controls, be able to apply the latest techniques in these areas, including the development of charts, graphs and projection of trends shown therein. Must have a thorough knowledge of all office procedures and equipment such as Windows & Microsoft Office, as well as understanding of budgeting methods, cost accounting, insurance taxes, banking, and financial matters. Must be able to assist with preparation & verification of monthly, quarterly, and annual statistical reports, reconcile all subsidiary accounts to the general ledger, perform monthly close out procedures, provide support for internal checks for various areas, review accounts at month end to monitor expenses with budgets. Must be able to assist with accounting functions, provide support and internal checks for various areas as needed, perform and assist with internal audit of any general ledger accounts out-of-balance and makes necessary corrections. Compiles information for and sets up assembly units, maintain data related to transformers; and works on special projects as assigned, to include research, accumulation of data, and other information. Must be skilled in human relations and possess good verbal and written communication skills.
