ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE SPECIALIST PowerSouth Energy Cooperative, an electric generation and transmission cooperative serving Alabama and Northwest Florida, is seeking an Environmental Science Specialist at the Headquarters Office in Andalusia, Alabama. The purpose of this position is to ensure timely compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements in support of securing Rural Utilities Service funding for new projects. This position also advises the Engineering and Operations Division on route selection and related environmental issues, ensures compliance with applicable storm water rules, and aids the department in other compliance issues as needed. The position requires a bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Biology, or a closely related field. Experience in electric utility environmental compliance is preferred but not required. Incumbent will be expected to obtain certifications as needed, and will progress through on-the-job training. Employment is subject to a negative drug test, background check, and completion of a comprehensive application for employment.
