Environmental Beat Reporter The Indianapolis Star/IndyStar.com , part of the USA TODAY NETWORK , has an immediate opening for a reporter to cover environmental issues in Indianapolis, Central Indiana, statewide and beyond. This person will be part of a two-person reporting team that is funded through a grant by the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust. IndyStar successfully completed the first 3-year grant and has been renewed for a second 3-year grant. IndyStars environmental team is attached to our nationally recognized investigations team and reports directly to the News and Investigations Director. This team is comprised of journalists who have produced work at the highest level, including being awarded the 2021 Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting and two IRE Medals. Environmental coverage is defined broadly and includes a range of topics: toxic health risks, wildlife, energy, recycling, social justice, natural resources, even agriculture. Our ideal candidate will be able to cover this beat from various perspectives.
