The Master Teaching Artist (MTA) is a highly accomplished professional dancer and teaching artist with more than ten years of teaching experience at the community and professional level. The ideal candidate will understand codified dance techniques, dance pedagogy, and a solid understanding of composition and choreographic principals. They should also have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Training and experience with AAADT, Ailey II, the Ailey School, Ailey Arts in Education, and/or AileyCamp a plus. ACTIVITIES AND SERVICE: The MASTER TEACHING ARTIST teaches dance in schools, community centers, KCFAA Studio classes and other venues in addition to participating as needed in educational programs for schools including AileyCamp or Summer Dance, audience development, and public relations purposes. The MTA will contribute to the planning and/or continuous improvement of program planning and implementation efforts (consistent with established deadlines and budget parameters). The MTA will also support KCFAA operational activities and goals and participate in team meetings and events as requested by KCFAA. DANCE CLASSES: The MASTER TEACHING ARTIST will teach up to TWENTY (20) classes per *Note: a class period should be from 40 minutes to 70 minutes long. Teaching four classes per day equals a full day, teaching three class equals six hours, two classes equal four hours and one class equals two hours. Class times and locations: KCFAA agrees to make every reasonable attempt to create schedules that are not split however classes can start as early as 7:15 am and finish no later than 8:30 PM. On occasion, classes may fall on the weekend. On any given day, the MTA will teach up to four classes per MTA shall arrive 15 minutes before the start of the first dance class or workshop at a given school. The MTA will abide by the rules of KCFAA and all posted rules or statutes covering the place of class. The MTA will abide by KCFAAA's rules governing care of wardrobe used in performance, and all other KCFAA and wardrobe policy presented.
