The Department of Computer Science at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a tenure-eligible, 9-month appointment (Regular Title Series) faculty position to begin August 2023. We seek excellent candidates in all areas, with specific needs in data science, software engineering, security, and systems. A demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse teams to address grand societal challenges is highly desirable. Successful candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education and be qualified to teach a broad range of courses in Computer Science. All regular title series faculty are expected to have a mix of research, teaching, and service to be negotiated annually with the chair of the department. We will consider all ranks, with preference for candidates at the assistant professor level. Tenure-eligible faculty are expected to build a strong research program in their chosen area and to be dedicated teachers, contributing to our instructional offerings at both undergraduate and graduate levels. The Department, housed within the College of Engineering, has 21 faculty members. We aim to be a diverse community of researchers and educators pursuing pioneering research in computer science as well as interdisciplinary research collaborations at the university and beyond; offering all students the highest quality instructional programs including Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD degrees in Computer Science, Master's degree in Data Science, and Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD degrees in Computer Engineering; expanding our reach to marginalized and underrepresented students, including but not limited to persons of color, international, first generation, veterans, people with disabilities, and members of the LGBTQ+ communities; and serving the professional, local, state and global communities. The degree programs in Computer Engineering are offered in collaboration with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Department; the undergraduate programs in Computer Science and in Computer Engineering are ABET-accredited.
