Impact Children's Lives While Managing a Talented Team of Library Professionals! Wake County Public Libraries is seeking a Youth Services Manager for its busy West Regional Library in western Cary, NC . You will work as part of a management team at the library and more specifically, supervise a team of librarians and library assistants who work in the Youth Services Department providing dynamic programs and services to children of all ages. As a Department Manager, you will also collaborate with your peers and librarians from across the system to create and promote quality children's programming and services. Key Responsibilities Include: Work as Manager on Duty in the absence of the Library Manager Supervise a team of Librarians and Library Assistants in providing programs and service to children and families Work with peers and Library Administration on system projects and initiatives How Will We Know You're 'The One'? Interpersonal, communication and customer service skills Ability to build and maintain positive, productive relationships with staff, peers, colleagues and public Ability to lead and motivate staff while fostering and mentoring relationships High level of energy with the ability to plan and implement in a dynamic, fast-paced environment Ability to create vision and goals on a local level that support larger organizational goals High degree of adaptability and good problem-solving skills Self-starter who is proactive and has the ability to work both independently and with a team About This Position Location: West Regional Library Cary, NC 27519 Employment Type: Regular Work Schedule: Mon - Fri 8:15am -5:15pm; occasional nights and weekends Hiring Range: $63,386 - $85,573 Posting Closing Date: 7:00 pm on 10/25/2022 The Basics (Required Education and Experience) Master's degree in Librarianship or related field: MLS, MLIS, MIS, ML from an ALA accredited program or NC program One year of experience as a Librarian Equivalent education and experience are NOT accepted Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) Two years of professional public library experience Experience with current Youth Services practices and trends
