Job Details Description Schedule : Friday - Saturday (20 hrs/wk) 9:00 PM - 7:30 AM Department: Specimen Processing 232 *Hourly rate is an estimate only which includes shift differential for nights, evenings or weekend shifts. Overall hourly rates will vary based on schedule Primary Purpose : Works under general supervision to learn the proper handling of all specimens received and prepares specimens for laboratory testing. This position involves manifesting shipments in ARUP's shipment tracking applications. Essential Functions : Attends Specimen Processing team and staff meetings. Open/close and manifest shipments and properly document any shipping or other violations. Add temperature control material (e.g. dry ice) to shipping containers as needed. Ensures inbound shipments are evaluated for late priority and proper temperatures. Responsible for monitoring Special Needs Requests, Short Stability Report, and manifesting identified bags/specimens. Responsible for distribution of Local, Room Temperature, FedEx shipments and other isolated bags/specimens. Immediately processes specimens as they become available. Enter patient demographics and process specimens/orders using the appropriate applications. Order all tests indicated on the requisition. Process all manual and electronically transmitted tests on submitted paperwork. Properly comments any additional information on the requisition/packing list.
