SFJAZZ is an international leader in jazz creation, presentation, and education. Located in San Francisco, SFJAZZ explores the full spectrum of jazz-from the music's origins in the African American community, to its diverse present-day expressions around the world. As a 501c3 non-profit organization, SFJAZZ works to develop the audience for jazz in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. SFJAZZ celebrates jazz as a living art form, built on a constantly evolving tradition. SFJAZZ is seeking a Director of Human Resources. The HR Director reports to the Chief Executive Officer. Specific responsibilities are focused on staff recruitment, performance management, employee relations, legal compliance, employee administration, and supporting staff growth strategies through HR activities, programs, and initiatives. Specific responsibilities include: Develops, interprets and implements HR policies, practices, and organizational philosophy to ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations. Leads recruitment effort for all employees and interns; handles on-boarding and exit interviews of all employees; reviews salary against compensation ranges, market data and works with senior management for necessary approvals. Oversees ongoing performance appraisal process including measurement criteria to ensure consistent application; communicates timelines and measures. Manages performance management process including coaching management on how to best communicate expectations and performance feedback; develops performance plans to correct performance deficiencies; writes disciplinary documentation; partners with organization's attorneys; and manages necessary terminations. Works with Directors and Managers to help define roles and responsibilities. Partners with management regarding department organization and staff responsibilities to ensure effective utilization of resources. Reviews job descriptions, compensation, and provides guidance and feedback regarding levels that are organizationally consistent to ensure equity. Works with Directors to assess needs and provide training, both individual, group and compliance based.
