This position is responsible for directing strategic planning, creation, and implementation of all public relations campaigns, programs, publicity activities, and relationships for the agency and its clients as well as the day-to-day management and professional development of the Public Relations team. As needed, this position will directly implement public relations strategy for key clients. Directs the strategic planning, creation, and implementation of all public relations campaigns, programs, and publicity activities for the agency and its clients using all appropriate media and communications channels. Leads and manages the public relations department; training, supervising, and mentoring all public relations managers and interns. Performs performance evaluations and sets professional goals for the public relations team. Works directly and indirectly with internal teams and clients to schedule and ensure projects move according to approved plans and deadlines, drawing attention to potential problems before they occur. Plays a lead role in strategic planning to provide industry guidance, access to key community resources, and valuable insight for agency and clients' needs. Develops and/or consults on publicity, stakeholder communication, crisis communication, social media, and media releases to be coordinated by the agency for clients and/or agency. Maintains cooperative relationships with members of the media, community representatives, public interest groups and others on behalf of clients and/or agency. Works with directors of business development and account service to grow the agency's book of business, identify prospective new clients, and attend prospect meetings/presentations as needed. Works with the director of account service to identify and develop PR strategies and ongoing support for current clients. Serves on the Directors Team, assisting with overall agency and team growth, identifying new services and opportunities, and developing management skills. Represents agency in the community through business/civic organizations.
