New Mexico State University at Alamogordo (NMSU-A) is a comprehensive community college located in the foothills, at the base of the Sacramento Mountains. This vantage point overlooks the city of Alamogordo and the Tularosa Basin. The service area of the school includes Holloman Air Force Base (HAFB), White Sands Missile Range, and stretches beyond the view to include the Mescalero Apache Reservation and approximately twenty villages and towns. Much of the south central New Mexico region benefits from the convenient location of the campus. NMSU-A is a two year community college campus accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of Colleges and Schools, and is dedicated to the concept of high-quality, cost-effective education that meets the needs of the community and diverse student population. Job Duties and Responsibilities Under limited supervision perform duties that are varied and somewhat difficult in character. This position includes duties associated as an instructional designer and coordination of the Learning Management System (LMS), Quality Matters (QM) logistics, faculty/staff/student training, leading QM reviews, teaching an online or hybrid course offered by NMSU-A, and knowledge of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) guidelines as they apply to course design. Classification Summary Under supervision performs work that is varied and that may be somewhat difficult in character, but usually involves limited responsibility. This position includes a cross section of duties associated with both instructional designers and educational technologists including supporting faculty and support staff to design, test, and implement educational technology aligned with effective instructional strategies. Classification Standard Duties Facilitate professional development for faculty related to the effective design and use of educational technologies. Align the use of educational technologies with effective instructional strategies deployed using various formats including face-to-face, online, ITV, or a mixture of formats (hybrid). Provide consulting on the use of educational technologies used for learning management, content multi-media authoring, learning assessment tools, asynchronous and synchronous communication, and any related technologies.
