This senior level professional position in the Facility Services Department at LSUHSC – New Orleans oversees the operation s , maintenance and repair of all building mechanical systems for over 3 million square feet of space in a multi-facility, two-campus, health sciences university setting. This position is responsible for the effective design, operation, maintenance and repair of the HVAC systems, including boilers and chillers, as well as other building mechanical systems throughout the Downtown and City Park campuses in New Orleans. Specific responsibilities include: Hiring/mentoring qualified staff to maintain the effective operations of the Building Systems; planning & directing installation, maintenance, renovation, and repairs of HVAC and other building mechanical systems, utilizing comprehensive automated monitoring systems (Siemens Insight and Desigo) and an automated work order system to ensure effective utilization of resources; provid i ng technical support to the Preventive Maintenance Team and regularly inspecting facilities to proactively identify potential maintenance problems; overseeing service and repair contracts; managing budget; ensuring compliance with all government and/or agency regulations and directives and LSU policies and procedures; and responding to campus emergencies at all hours in a timely and effective manner. Required Education & Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field, with a minimum of 5 years' experience to include supervisory experience and two years managing large steam, chiller, or co-gen plan serving multiple buildings. Two years of additional experience may be substituted for each year of college. Preferred Licenses and Certifications: 1 st Class Stationary Engineer License; EPA Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Certification Required Knowledge & Skills: Must have effective personal/communication skills, including supervisory principles and practices.
