The School Counselor assists students with disabilities and their families in obtaining services necessary to transition from high school to a post-secondary setting, whether for furthering educational opportunities, obtaining employment, or developing long-term support measures. This direction will include the planning, coordination and implementation of initiatives which provide successful post-school outcomes for students. Work responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Sharing information with staff, students, and parents regarding needs, progress, and resources. Overseeing the coordination of activities for college, career, and community readiness resources.Developing individual post-secondary goals and plans through necessary steps that include: Communicating, coordinating and facilitating meetings with general education teachers and support staff. Providing leadership for teachers in transition-related issues.Engaging with students and families to adult service providers. Overall qualifications include: Understanding of Special Education, including processes, programs/services, legal requirements, and fostering the development of student growth through effective practices.Thorough knowledge of community-based programs, school-to-work programs, and other community resources.Established experience in working collaboratively with all stakeholders, including: students, parents, educators, administrators, employers.Demonstrated outstanding organizational and communication skills.NE Certification with applicable endorsement required recblid cf77esrmzhhsptnxugqpabk0bwu1ih
