The Philadelphia Inquirer is embarking on a multi-year plan to reshape both its digital experiences and how we deliver them. As an Agile Practitioner reporting to the Agile Practitioner Manager, you will have a direct hand in leading our organizational transformation. The Agile Practitioner will improve our use of Agile Development at The Philadelphia Inquirer, accelerating a team's work through continuous improvement, while managing Scrum events to facilitate the delivery of our web or mobile applications. The successful candidate is a strong change agent with a positive attitude, who loves coaching Agile principles and will be excited to help deliver public service journalism that serves our community and makes a difference in our reader's lives. What You'll Do Organize and facilitate daily scrums, grooming sessions, sprint and release planning, retrospectives, demos and other Agile-related events Build visibility around team velocity, throughput, and sprint/release progress Leverage data to measure & monitor team health (burndown, velocity tracking, carryover, code quality, happiness, etc.). Regularly assess your team's Agile maturity and modify approaches accordingly Defining business requirements and report them back to stakeholders Establish team norms and best practices to improve the effectiveness of our Agile methods Work with Technical Leads and Product Managers to refine and prioritize the product backlog, growing its effectiveness Support teams in identifying and removing their impediments; prevent distractions that interfere with the team's ability to deliver the sprint goal; facilitate discussion and conflict resolution Be a servant/leader to a diverse team consisting of application engineers, UX designers, QA and product management Advocate for autonomous, self-organizing, empowered, and continuously improving teams Encourage and contribute to a culture of collaboration across all disciplines Encourage discussion, conflict resolution, and openness to alternatives or different approaches 2+ years of hands-on agile practitioner experience 4+ years of experience in a software engineering environment Great analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities Superio
