PITTSBURGH , PENNSYLVANIA (USA). UPMC-PASSAVANT is a modern suburban 383-bed community hospital located in the beautiful northern suburbs of Pittsburgh, with lovely residential communities and superb public school districts, ranked highest in quality in nearly all surveys. UPMC Passavant has been transformed in recent years into an advanced tertiary care center, staffed by many of the same physicians of the affiliated university hospitals of the UPMC health system. The Pathology Department is seeking one pathologist at Assistant or Associate Professor (nontenure) (depending on qualifications) to replace a position beginning July 1, 2020. UPMC-PASSAVANT has a surgical pathology volume of over 17,500 surgical cases and 2,650 non-gynecological cytopathology specimens. Candidates must be AP/CP board certified or eligible and should be qualified for an unrestricted physician license in Pennsylvania. Fellowship training in cytopathology and/or surgical pathology with oncologic pathology background and prior pathology practice experience is desirable but not necessary. Currently, anatomic and clinical services are provided by a team of six pathologists, with wide areas of expertise. All of the members of the team are faculty at the University of Pittsburgh and members of the University of Pittsburgh Physicians (Practice Plan). There is close connection with the high end services of the four academic core hospitals, providing expertise in all areas as necessary, as well as sophisticated services in immunohistochemistry, imaging and molecular anatomic pathology. The hospital is a part of the UPMC Health System, which is the largest health care system in this part of the state and all faculty are appointed to the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. In addition, UPMC Passavant also has a 36 bed satellite hospital in Cranberry Township that is located ten miles away from the main institution.
