General Description The Operations & Compliance Coordinator is responsible for coordinating on-air announcing for the radio station, and ensuring overall regulatory compliance for Ozarks Public Broadcasting. Responsibilities include supervising radio announcers, coordinating volunteer-produced content, ensuring ongoing regulatory compliance across the radio and television stations, executing required reporting to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), and maintaining station public inspection files. Primary Duties Develops and maintains a strong knowledge and understanding of legal and regulatory requirements, as determined and enforced by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), to ensure KSMU and OPT maintain legal compliance and funding eligibility. Ensure KSMU's on-air sound is professional and effective by hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and coaching radio announcers. Ensures KSMU's legal compliance by developing and maintaining a competent staff of announcers with the knowledge and skill to work independently; produce compliant and effective on-air breaks; execute legal and operational procedures, including Emergency Alert System (EAS) tests and announcements, broadcast tower light checks, and translator signal monitoring; troubleshoot and solve minor technical issues; and identify and communicate major issues to appropriate staff. Works with volunteer content producers to ensure quality audio, effective content, and timely delivery of programs for broadcast. Serves as on-air radio talent as needed by producing on-air announcements, providing board operation during live programming, and participating in on-air fundraising. Oversees required annual reporting to the FCC (e.g. EEO, station ownership, required legal disclosures), by maintaining records of ongoing compliance, coordinating staff participation in reporting, consulting with University and external legal counsel as required, and preparing reports.
