The North Rose-Wolcott Central School District is seeking candidates for the following anticipated position for the 2021-2022 school year: School Social Worker Goal: To serve as a liaison person between home, school and community. The School Social Worker contributes to the development of a healthy, safe and caring environment by advancing the understanding of the emotional and social development of children and the influences of family, community and cultural differences on student success. He/she shall also implement effective intervention strategies. Performance Responsibilities: The School Social Worker will perform the following duties and all other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools and his/her designee: • To empower students, families and school personnel to access available opportunities and resources to fully develop each student's potential • Counsel with parents toward improving home situations whereby more favorable conditions will be attained with regard to school work, behavior, attendance and interest; maintain their confidentiality • To provide individual and group counseling to students and their families • Provide social case management for students and families • Provide crisis intervention services • Serve as liaison with community agencies and assist in fostering communication between schools, parents/guardians and community leaders • Conduct home visits related to establishing communication and positive connections between the parent/guardian and school setting around identified issues • Assist a pupil directly toward adjustment to school (after consultation with the school counselor and/or psychologist) • Counsel individual students to correct those personal, social or emotional mal-adjustments related to their educational and social progress • Participate as a member of the MTSS Team and other school-based teams to develop interventions that promote a student's academic success • Keep sufficient records of cases for use by school staff members and/or outside agencies • Provide staff consultation and Professional Development on behavioral, emotional and environmental issues affecting student participation in the edu
