Position Summary Working as the primary liaison to the Executive Director for curatorial matters, the Director of Curatorial Affairs provides managerial oversight of the Curatorial department. Key responsibilities include the management and cultivation of Curatorial staff, the planning* of exhibitions & publications and department strategic planning & budgeting. The Director of Curatorial Affairs establishes and maintains Curatorial policies and procedures, long-range exhibition/programming schedules and oversees the responsibilities of the department. *Each staff member makes contributions to our curatorial and educational mission, however the curation of exhibitions is not a responsibility of this position. Responsibilities Develops and maintains departmental budgets, contracts, agreements and other administrative documents Develops timelines and project manages, and/or oversees management of, all curatorial programs; creates agendas and presentation materials for curatorial and cross-departmental meetings Develops and maintains loan acquisition and donation policies Maintains annual art insurance and customs bond; procures art insurance for borrowed works; ensures proper insurance coverage for works on loan Implements an exhibition program that advances the Museum's mission and vision; creates and maintains a comprehensive 3+ year exhibition schedule Explores and develops collaborations with other museums, in concert with the Special Exhibitions Curator Participates in the annual strategic planning of the organization Supervises and supports the Curator throughout the process of exhibition proposal development and implementation of exhibitions; facilitates decisions on exhibition proposals and loan requests Supervises and supports the Registrar Collections Manager and Preparator in the management of the permanent collection's care & conservation and the health and accessibility of the database & records Establishes conservation priorities; plans and implements the conservation and preservation of artwork including managing and coordinating conservation treatments ; provides information to Development department to support conservation funding With the Collections Manager, oversees curatorial publications throu
