PLEASE APPLY DIRECTLY ON OUR WEBSITE AT SIERTEK.COM/CAREERS Position Overview Section We are seeking a detail-oriented Knowledge Management Specialist to support the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) by managing enterprise records, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Privacy Act (PA), and records management programs. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with Department of the Air Force (DAF), Department of Defense (DoD), and federal information governance requirements while serving as a trusted advisor to leadership on records lifecycle management, privacy, and knowledge management best practices. This position requires exceptional organizational skills, strong written and verbal communication abilities, and experience managing sensitive information in a highly regulated government environment. Essential Job Functions FOIA Program Management Manage the Wing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) program in accordance with DAF and AFRL policies. Receive, log, track, and distribute incoming FOIA requests. Maintain FOIA tracking systems, standard operating procedures, and program documentation. Coordinate with Wing leadership, the AFRL FOIA Manager, and Base FOIA Office. Provide guidance and training to FOIA Points of Contact (POCs). Coordinate review, redaction, approval, and submission of FOIA response packages. Archive completed FOIA cases in accordance with records retention requirements.

 

Privacy Act & Information Protection Administer the Wing Privacy Act (PA) program. Process and track Privacy Act requests. Monitor, report, and support mitigation of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) breaches. Develop and maintain: Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) Social Security Number (SSN) Justification Memorandums PII Confidentiality Impact Levels (PCILs) System of Records Notices (SORNs) Ensure compliance with Privacy Act, Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), and applicable DoD and DAF regulations.

 

Records & Knowledge Management Coordinate records management using Content Server/Livelink and other approved systems. Ensure electronic records are accurately classified, tagged, searchable, and securely maintained. Manage the complete records lifecycle, including creation, maintenance, retention, and disposition. Apply approved Records Disposition Schedules (RDS) for temporary and permanent records. Maintain compliance with the Federal Records Act, National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), AFRL, and DAF policies.

 

Compliance & Program Support Support Staff Assistance Visits (SAVs) and Inspector General (IG) inspections. Conduct records inventories, quality assurance reviews, and corrective action tracking. Provide training to personnel on records management, FOIA, Privacy Act, and compliance requirements. Monitor completion of required Privacy Act and Records Management training and report compliance metrics to leadership. Complete all mandatory Federal, DoD, and DAF training requirements within required timelines.

 

Qualifications Minimum Position Requirements Bachelor's degree with 2 years of relevant experience OR Associate's degree with 4 years of relevant experience. Experience administering Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) programs. Knowledge of federal records management laws and information lifecycle management. Experience safeguarding Personally Identifiable Information (PII), Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), and sensitive government information. Experience managing official publications, operating instructions, and standardized forms. Minimum two years of experience preparing official correspondence, reports, executive briefings, or documentation for senior leadership. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications including: Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint Teams OneNote SharePoint Ability to obtain and maintain required access to government information systems. Must sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) prior to performance.
