PLEASE APPLY DIRECTLY ON OUR WEBSITE AT SIERTEK.COM/CAREERS Position Overview Section The Operations Research Analyst provides advanced analytical expertise supporting the U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM) Operational Consultation Support Team. This position applies operations research methodologies, statistical modeling, and scientific analysis to improve operational readiness, force health protection, and evidence-based decision-making across the Department of the Air Force. The successful candidate will conduct operational studies, analyze complex health and military datasets, evaluate alternative solutions to operational challenges, and provide technical recommendations to government researchers and leadership. This role requires a highly analytical professional capable of leading independent research efforts while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across military, academic, and civilian organizations. Essential Job Functions Conduct operations research and analytical studies supporting USAFSAM research initiatives and operational consultation activities. Analyze complex management and operational problems and develop data-driven recommendations for decision-makers. Apply scientific methods, statistical analysis, mathematical modeling, and operations research techniques to evaluate healthcare and operational readiness challenges. Design and execute analytical studies using health surveillance data, medical records, personnel data, and other military datasets. Define research objectives, collect and evaluate data, identify analytical requirements, and recommend appropriate methodologies. Develop innovative analytical approaches and recommend alternative courses of action based on research findings. Evaluate assumptions, validate analytical methods, and identify emerging technologies and scientific advancements applicable to Air Force medical operations. Provide analytical and research support to 711 HPW investigators and multidisciplinary research teams. Collaborate with government agencies, academic institutions, and subject matter experts on operational research initiatives. Prepare technical reports, white papers, manuscripts, presentations, and other deliverables in support of research programs. Present research findings and project status updates to government leadership and stakeholders. Utilize and continuously expand expertise with analytical tools including Python, R, Tableau, SAS Viya, Qualtrics, Envision, and related technologies. Support timely access to required databases and ensure compliance with applicable data security and privacy requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum Position Requirements
Master's degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Systems Engineering, or a closely related quantitative discipline with significant coursework in mathematics, probability, statistics, or mathematical modeling.
Minimum five (5) years of professional experience in operations research, quantitative analysis, or scientific research.
Demonstrated expertise applying operations research methodologies and rigorous scientific research techniques.
Experience designing and leading analytical studies involving healthcare, operational, or military datasets.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to independently solve complex problems.
Experience developing technical reports, white papers, research publications, presentations, and other analytical products.
Ability to analyze health surveillance data, electronic health records, personnel records, and other operational datasets.
Proficiency or demonstrated ability to learn analytical software such as Python, R, Tableau, SAS Viya, Qualtrics, or similar platforms.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines with minimal supervision.
