Job description The Development Director will perform a broad range of duties including, but not limited to, managing the design and production of fundraising materials, conduct donor research and outreach, write and submit proposals, working in close collaboration with the VP of Development. The candidate will lead the formation and distribution of donor communication materials, including reports; and execute strategic fundraising initiatives. The position will require approximately 10% travel, if safe per health protocols, primarily in the Portland metro area and secondarily across Oregon. Position Responsibilities: Roll-out the Development strategy; conduct research, prospecting, and application to multiple investor/donor sources. Manage a portfolio of donors from prospecting, to cultivation, closing, and renewal. Support the VP of Development in their fundraising outreach. Lead and oversee, in collaboration with the communications colleague, the development of offering materials including pitches and proposals. Develop and maintain an accurate donor-management and grant-management systems, as well as online donation systems; keep accurate information on all donors and manage donor relationships effectively. Qualifications: At least 10 years of experience in successful fundraising from multiple channels. Proven success in corporate, institutional and individual donor development. Experience in planning, leading, and managing business development projects, including coordinating with peers to achieve desired outcomes and tracking and reporting on progress to senior leaders. Skilled in creating powerful, compelling written and oral communications for fundraising. Ability to convey complex ideas through brief, simple materials. Experience and credibility when presenting materials to all audiences. Takes initiative and actively seeks to deepen current donor relationships and to forge new ones. Effective at working with others to reach common goals and objectives.
