Title: Director of Skilled Trades and Transportation Job Category: Staff Department: Skilled Trades Position Length: Full-time General Description: The Director for the Skilled Trades Department is a very diverse position that will be directly responsible for the oversight of the department, including budgets, program development and assessment, ongoing process improvements, student advising, outreach and recruitment, and supervision of Skilled Trades program staff. The Director functions as the college representative in the community, attending meetings and meeting with businesses to determine training needs in the region. The position reports to the Dean of Workforce. In addition, the director will collaborate with the Skilled Trades Coordinator to advise students in the Skilled Trades programs and organize program assessment and accreditation including instructor professional development; recruit for and market programs; set up open enrollment classes for continuing education; and work with corporate accounts to set up contract training classes. Essential Job Duties: Student Recruitment and Engagement: Develop and implement annual marketing plan Participate in outreach opportunities to raise awareness of training opportunities in Skilled Trades by visiting schools, businesses, and community organizations as appropriate. Assist with advising students for recruiting, registration, transfer, and employment purposes. Insure course offerings remain relevant Program Development Prepare course schedules and insure timely submission Support research and development of course materials and update as needed. Prepare book and supply orders for each class as needed. Collaborate with Skilled Trades Program Coordinator to conduct program reviews, coordinate assessment and develop Instructor professional development opportunities. Interview, hire, and supervise faculty and staff. Visit classes and instructors on a regular basis for the purpose of evaluating instructors. Negotiate salary and prepare contracts for instructors. Complete performance evaluations and maintain personnel files Budgeting and Grants Create and implement budgets for trades-based programs Manage multiple funding streams Initiate and su
