Wor-Wic Community College is accepting applications for a full-time Pre-Kindergarten teacher for three-year-old students to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills using State of Maryland approved curriculum. This is a grant-funded position that includes a fringe benefits package. The starting annual salary will likely fall between $55,000 and $65,000, depending on qualifications and experience. Essential Duties The following list is not intended as, nor should it be construed as, exhaustive of all responsibilities, skills or working conditions associated with this position. Responsibilities include: Planning and preparing lessons, assignments and instructional materials to implement curriculum used in the Wicomico County Public Schools Selecting and using appropriate instructional strategies Addressing specific educational needs of individual students Creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment Promoting a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning Modifying instructional methods to meet student needs, including students with special needs Establishing learning objectives consistent with appraisal of student needs Evaluating student progress Maintaining order and discipline in the classroom Supervising classroom paraprofessionals and assistants Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in a relevant field One of the following: Current State of Maryland PreK-3 Early Childhood Education teaching certification -OR- Current enrollment in a Maryland-approved alternative preparation program -OR- Current enrollment in a Maryland-approved teacher preparation program to obtain a state P-3 certification Knowledge of subject matter and appropriate instructional methodologies Excellent verbal and written communication skills Exemplary organizational and planning skills Demonstrated leadership skills necessary to work effectively with students, parents and administrators Supplemental Information This is a full-time 10-month faculty position that is grant-funded and includes fringe benefits.
