Science Laboratory Coordinator

Wor-Wic Community College is accepting applications for a science laboratory coordinator to, under minimal supervision, manage and ensure the overall safe operation of the science laboratories. This position is required to periodically work evenings depending on scheduled labs. Manages the overall operation of the math and science department science instructional laboratories by preparing, organizing and dismantling the laboratories for daily instruction, including making chemical solutions, preparing media, subculturing microorganisms, labeling secondary containers according to GHS labeling guidelines, posting pertinent safety reminders for specific laboratories, and setting up all required experiments and materials in the instructional laboratories; and consults course syllabi and lab manuals to ensure smooth daily operations of instructional laboratories while maintaining a strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy Establishes and continuously maintains a current departmental chemical inventory, online and paper safety data sheet (SDS) catalog for all chemicals in inventory, course-specific laboratory safety rules and course-specific safety modules in LMS; serves as a member of the campus safety committee; and complies with and provides recommended revisions for the campus Chemical Hygiene Plan Establishes and maintains records for all departmental science programs to demonstrate faculty, student, and visitor compliance with safety regulations; safe use, storage and disposal of chemicals; faculty and student worker lab safety training; and inspection of laboratories, preparation rooms and chemical storage areas Trains and supervises student workers working in the prep room and supports faculty teaching laboratories with technical assistance and support on the proper and safe use of equipment; teaches no more than two lab courses per term Maintains organization and inventory of laboratory materials such as chemicals, glassware, equipment and other laboratory materials to ensure that excess inventory is avoided; identifies, labels and arranges for the dis
