The City of Visalia is recruiting for a Building Maintenance Technician/Senior Building Maintenance Technician (depending on qualifications). The Transit Division The City of Visalia Transit Division is part of the City's General Services Department and plays a large and active role in the Visalia community. Visalia Transit has a large fleet and moves over one million passengers per year. With multiple buildings, bus stops, and properties there is a need to fill the Maintenance position immediately. The role of the Building Maintenance Technician position within the Transit Division is vast and varied and participates in many aspects of the Transit Division including but not limited to Route Changes, Building maintenance, The Sequoia Summer and Winter seasons, Bus Wash Maintenance and Project Management responsibilities. Examples of Duties The Position The City of Visalia is recruiting for a Building Maintenance Technician. Depending on qualifications, this position may be hired as a Building Maintenance Technician or a Senior Building Maintenance Technician. This position will be responsible for maintaining Transit buildings, equipment and bus stops. Bus stop work can include installation and removal of signs, shelters, benches and trash enclosures, solar repair, and landscaping maintenance and cleanup as needed. In addition, they will perform a variety of duties within the Transit Division including, but not limited to, major and minor repairs of buildings and upkeep and maintenance of Transit owned camping trailers for the Sequoia season. This position, as needed, will provide oversight on various projects and contractors including landscapers, tree trimming and concrete repair. The Building Maintenance Technician will maintain records and prepare appropriate paperwork, correspondence, records and reports including maintenance logs and work orders. Qualifications / Requirements The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to work independently while staying in communication with their supervisor. This position requires a great deal of proactive thinking, problem solving, organization and safety awareness. Serving as a "jack of all trades," it is desirable that the incumbent have a diverse background
