The Volunteer Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the Museum's volunteer services program, which provides volunteer assistance for both special events and the day-to-day needs of departments across campus. Volunteer participation and engagement is one of the Museum's core strategic functions, and a thriving volunteer program is an essential component in the Museum's ability to achieve its mission of inspiring an enduring connection to the American maritime experience. Reporting into the Director of Human Resources, the Volunteer Services Manager will collaborate with all departments of the Museum. Although individual departments handle their own scheduling, the Volunteer Services Manager acts as a point of contact for Museum volunteers from their initial intake through the conclusion of their volunteer service. Responsibilities include identification, recruitment, assessment, assignment, orientation, and consistent stewardship of the Museum's volunteer corps. Essential Functions: Manage recruitment of Volunteer Corps through local media, web, social media and outreach Identify local and industry organizations for recruiting efforts. Build and maintain relationships with managerial staff to support goals of departments and Museum. Work with staff leaders to foster a sense of community, connection, and dedication within the volunteer corps. Anticipate and coordinate volunteer requirements across numerous departments with vastly differing needs. Resolve conflicts, maintain confidential and sensitive information with integrity and professionalism, be an advocate for volunteers' needs, and represent the Museum in all volunteer matters; both inward and outward-facing. Maintain and update all Volunteer communication platforms including weekly newsletter, internal handbook; website and social media. Organize events for volunteers including Lectures, Hours, general Museum and Junior Volunteer orientations, volunteer trainings and "Huddle" meetings for special events Develop and coordinate volunteer recognition events. Manage electronic ListServe for the purposes of volunteer communication. Supervise data management procedures and timely entries into the Volunteer Module of Raiser's Edge software.
