Position Summary: UW Platteville seeks a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) . Both positions are full time positions for the academic year (mid-August through May) and 50% (20 hours per week) for summer months. Both positions are benefit and paid leave eligible. The CMA serves as a key support for the clinic and front receiving staff. The CMA contributes to health care delivery by preparing the patient for the necessary procedure, assessment, or interaction with the designated health care provider. The CMA is responsible for facilitating clinic flow of patients as well as participating in the activities that involve the receiving and processing of students as they check in at the front desk. Other responsibilities of this position include assisting the Administrative Director with the compilation of clinic statistics. The CMA is a vital member of the health care team and works in collaboration with the Student Health Services team and is supervised by the Administrative Director. The CMA collects vital signs, patient history, and specimens; and performs basic laboratory tests and administers injections and medications under supervising clinician direction to ensure the proper care of patients. The incumbent will prepare examination rooms and equipment and performs administrative duties, and work collaboratively with other medical staff. Minimum starting salary for the CMA position is $14.00 per hour commensurate with qualifications & experience. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) serves as a key support for the clinic and front receiving staff, facilitates clinic flow of patients from check-in to discharge, and prepares the patient for necessary procedures, assessment, or interaction with the healthcare provider. The LPN carries out patient care in accordance with provider's orders under the guidance and direction of the registered nurse in charge, administers prescribed medications and treatments, observes and records effects of medications, and observes and reports patient reactions to treatments or any unusual conditions.
