The Director of Clinical Education (DCE) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison will work closely with program leaders to provide oversight and direction in planning, implementation, and evaluation of the PA programs? clinical education curriculum. In addition, this person will develop and maintain processes that ensure integration of student clinical assignments and development of preceptors and clinical sites. The DCE position is a 0.8-1.0FTE (12-month appointment) non-tenure track academic staff faculty position in the Physician Assistant Program (UW School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH), Academic Affairs) at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor Clinical Health Sciences (CHS) Track or Assistant/Associate Professor in the Clinical Teaching (CT) Track. Rank is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Upon joining the PA program, a 0.2FTE clinical practice will be strongly encouraged. The DCE position requires excellent interpersonal communication skills, strong leadership and teaching skills, a collaborative style to complement a team environment, and active clinical practice. This individual must have the ability to develop effective community and institutional relationships and partners. This DCE will report to the PA Program Director and be instrumental in oversight of all aspects of the clinical education in accordance with the current ARC-PA standards. The DCE works closely with the Program Director and Academic Director, principal and instructional faculty, and students to promote the achievement of programmatic goals, student competencies, and learning outcomes. The Program's Academic Director provides elements of oversight to both the didactic and clinical years, particularly in areas of curriculum development, student assessment, and student remediation. The Director of Clinical Education will work closely with the Academic Director in these areas, as needed.
