Veteran's Services Coordinator

This position provides critical administrative support and student service for the Veteran Educational Benefits Office. This position will be a subject matter expert responsible for the complex review of veteran benefit applications to determine eligibility for state and federal Veteran Affairs Education Programs; will provide program-related counseling for veteran students and their dependents as well as prospective students; and will navigate the various software applications employed at the local, state and federal levels. This position will also assist in the review and assessment of Joint Service Transcripts (JSTs) and Community College of the Air Force Transcripts, to determine eligibility for UWL transfer credit for military coursework. In addition, this position will assist campus and community outreach including the management of the veteran benefits social media, digital signage, and website. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of Bachelor's degree or significant military experience and/or knowledge of veterans and related benefits Ability to provide excellent customer service Exceptional attention to detail Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and electronic calendars Responsible and reliable Independently able to complete tasks with minimal supervision Excellent interpersonal skills Ability to use discretion and good judgment regarding confidential information PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Military experience and/or experience working with veterans Working knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Experience working with student information systems Experience with state and federal veteran benefits websites INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR POTENTIAL BENEFITS You may potentially be eligible for benefits that could add an additional 40%+ to the overall financial package from the university.
