ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, University of Memphis. Memphis, TN. The Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Memphis invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level with expertise in fluvial geomorphology to begin in Fall 2022. Applicants should demonstrate expertise in at least two of the following research areas: geomorphology, fluvial processes, surface water hydrology, the role of rivers in pre-historic settlement patterns, or environmental hazards associated with large river systems. The successful applicant will develop an active research program, compete for external funding to support research, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and contribute to the service mission of the University. The successful applicant will also be an equity-minded individual committed to mentorship and working in a collegial, collaborative environment. The Department of Earth Sciences is an interdisciplinary program in archaeology, geography, and geology that offers B.A., M.A., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Earth Sciences and maintains close ties with the Center for Earthquake Research and Information, the Center for Applied Earth Science and Engineering Research, and the Chucalissa Museum. Applicants must have a Ph.D. from an accredited institution in Earth Sciences, Geology, Geography, or closely related field at the time of appointment.
