The Oklahoma City County Health Department is seeking applicants for the position of Health Promotion Specialist Salary range: $46,032 - $57,912 This position is located in the Community Health Division with the Oklahoma City-County Health Department (OCCHD). The incumbent is primarily responsible for guiding schools in the implementation of the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) model, and developing, presenting and providing programs and interventions that promote school health and wellbeing to schools, staff, students, parents and community members. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This is a summary of the duties and responsibilities commonly found within this classification. All employees must maintain a commitment to the OCCHDs mission, vision and strategic goals. This summary is not meant to be all-inclusive, thus, other related activities or tasks may be assigned. This position functions at the Front Line and Program Support level (Tier 1) as defined by the Council on Linkages Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals with integration of all Core Competency Domains. An emphasis on the following domains is important in this role: Communication Skills Health Equity Skills Community Partnership Skills Public Health Sciences Skills ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Partner with schools to conduct health assessments, surveys, focus groups, etc. and facilitate strategic planning processes with Healthy and Fit School Advisory Committees. Design, develop and present health education and promotion programming to schools, staff, students, parents and community members, using various audio/visual equipment. Connect community partners to schools to provide services and programming. Work with schools, staff, students, parents, community organizations, and coalitions on health-related projects. Coordinate and assist in the production of professional materials (e.g., posters, exhibits, leaflets, brochures and multimedia presentations). Provide technical assistance and consultation to schools in developing and implementing health education and promotion activities. Assist with the planning and coordination of Healthy and Fit School Advisory Committees. Generate documents and reports. Provide insight and
