Job Description
All’s Well Healthcare, in partnership with California’s Department of Developmental Services (DDS), offers a paid, 3-month internship. This statewide program places candidates with organizations supporting adults with developmental disabilities. Interns shadow staff to gain direct experience, with potential for permanent hire—sometimes as early as week three, serving as a “working interview.”
Role: Direct Service Professional (DSP) Intern
Interns train under an experienced DSP mentor for up to three months, 30 hours/week. This hands-on role teaches how to support individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities in leading more independent, fulfilling lives.
Responsibilities (varies by individual needs/goals):
- Empower and respect individuals
- Support communication/social interaction
- Assist with daily living (cooking, hygiene, transportation)
- Encourage community involvement
- Help access services/resources
- Support education, job readiness, career goals
- Promote wellness
- Advocate for rights/inclusion
- Foster relationships
- Document services/progress
- Center all decisions around the individual
Pay
- Starts at minimum wage, up to $22/hour

Qualifications
- 18+ years old
- High school diploma, equivalent, or Certificate of Completion
- Valid ID or Driver’s License
- Must pass background check/health screenings
- Authorized to work in U.S.
- No visa sponsorship available
Physical Requirements
May work indoors/outdoors. Frequent sitting, standing, writing, or repetitive motion required. Occasionally involves bending, stooping, squatting, lifting up to 25 lbs.
