DESCRIPTION: The Deputy Superintendent of Schools is a key instructional management position, supervising all elementary and secondary schools in the District, with wide latitude for independent judgment and decision making, as well as assisting in the formation of educational policy and practice. The Deputy Superintendent also acts for the superintendent in her absence and at various meetings, conferences, and functions as needed and required. Position is responsible for managing the district's schools and school leaders; creating a climate of professional collaboration by establishing structures that foster shared learning and resource exchange across schools and the community; and implementing a strategic plan to anchor the work of each Principal and school in improving student achievement. Serves as Superintendent of Schools in the absence of the Superintendent. This position reports directly to the Superintendent and serves as a member of the senior staff. RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise and Lead All District School Leaders Develop and lead school leaders in their roles as instructional leaders; Identify school leader academic and instructional needs and work with senior leadership teams to develop and implement solutions; Ensure the alignment of instruction in all schools to district and New York State standards; Assist principals with all aspects of internal and district-wide operations; Ensure that staffing patterns, student grouping plans, scheduling, and organizational structures are appropriate to desired student outcomes; Ensure state/federal compliance with assessments, reports, and other data and that school and school leader needs are managed and implemented; Oversee school departmental budget(s); review all personnel and budget requests from principals; Leverage the resources of Central Office departments and teams and coordinating their delivery in the best interests of schools and school leaders; Ensure schools and school leaders are pursuing the district's goals for diversity, equity and inclusion, with a particular focus on ensuring equitable access to high-quality instruction for students and closing the achievement gap; Collaborate with the Central Office in developing communication s
