Department: Operations and Maintenance FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Operations Manager Supervises: This position does not supervise other positions Pay Range: See Current Pay Metrics Position Purpose: This position is responsible for ensuring that the District's water and sewer installations and associated project components meet the contractual requirements, specifications, standards of the District and other jurisdictional authorities. This position inspects all types of projects including minor (small works) capital projects, emergency work, inter-local agreements, developer extensions, and side sewer installations. This position is also responsible for repair, maintenance, installation, and adjustment of the District's water distribution system, sewage collection system, plants, and reservoirs. This position performs varied manual work and operates heavy and specialized equipment to maintain and/or repair water distribution and wastewater collection systems. This position requires moderate supervision. Essential Job Functions: Duties and responsibilities include those listed below, as well as other duties as assigned from time to time. (Any one position may not include all of the duties listed nor do the listed examples include all tasks, which may be found in positions of this class.) Inspector: Inspects developer extension side sewer installations, minor capital improvement projects such as small works and interlocal agreement projects; ensures standards are met; enforces regulations, District code, and resolutions. Ensures that contractors and developers working on water/sewer improvements comply with District standards, contract documents, and regulatory requirements including traffic control, erosion control and restoration. Interprets and explains standards, regulations, plans and specifications. Observes tests and inspects water/sewer installations to ensure compliance with standards and contract specifications. Communicates and coordinates construction activities with contractors, developers, property owners and other team participants involved in the project.
