BURTON SCHOOL DISTRICT Communication and Community Engagement Officer JOB SUMMARY Under the direction of the District Superintendent, the Communication and Community Engagement Officer will plan and provide internal and external communications with all stakeholders and facilitate community engagement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provide communication support for the Superintendent, including attendance at District Board meetings and assisting with other public relations projects. Provides direction for strategy, design, and operation of the District's communication plan that includes marketing, engagement activities, and public relations. Strategically integrate information and content to build a compelling digital media platform that brings together strategy, research, creativity, and data analytics to transform the business of educating students and fostering broader interactivity between the District and its external stakeholders. Provides assistance and support to schools in developing and managing print, media, digital, web and social media presence. Coordinates and participates in special projects involving multiple departments and/or across schools Provides counsel at District level on marketing, communications, and parental and community involvement. Promotes the District's mission and vision and Strategic Plan and as an intermediary between school administrators/officials and the media in order to provide information on a varied number of educational policies, programs, and administrative operations. Plans, implements, and evaluates internal and external strategies to build understanding and support for District initiatives and to promote greater involvement in and support for District initiatives among school, community, business and legislative interests. Provides leadership and manages proactive and reactive media relations to obtain and shape news and information relating to the District. Supervises and, as necessary, serves as liaison for the print and televised media, the general public, and others. Ensures timely response to media inquiries and information to reports; coordinates the arrangement of interviews with staff.
