The American Association of University Professors (AAUP) is pleased to announce an Executive Assistant position, to be filled as soon as possible. This position is located in our Washington, DC office, with the option for some remote work/telecommuting. Founded in 1915, the AAUP has helped to shape American higher education by developing standards and procedures on academic freedom, tenure, and shared governance and by fighting to preserve and protect higher education as a common good. Advancing and protecting academic freedom is the AAUP's core mission. Governed by a Council and Officers who are elected from the membership, the AAUP has approximately 40 employees, and 45,000 members. The Executive Assistant will provide the principal administrative support to the AAUP Executive Director, the Deputy Executive Director, and the AAUP officers. The Executive Assistant works directly with the Executive Director and the Deputy Executive Director to assist in coordinating schedules, meetings, and other responsibilities. The Executive Assistant will be the primary coordinator for multiple annually scheduled meetings of the governing board of the AAUP and its related foundation. This coordination requires working with other staff as well as with outside vendors. The Executive Assistant will also serve as the primary coordinator of special projects and initiatives. As such, the Executive Assistant plays an essential role in supporting the AAUPs recent affiliation with the American Federation of Teachers and championing the AAUPs racial equity initiative. This position involves working with diverse individuals both inside and outside of the AAUP office. The position reports directly to the Executive Director. Duties and Responsibilities Preparing notices, agendas, and notebook materials, for several governing board meetings per year and supporting and coordinating those meetings; Assisting with the new Council and Foundation board members by providing informational materials as well as coordinating new Council member orientation; Supporting the AAUP biennial business meeting (held in even-numbered years in June); facilitating appointment of the business meeting committees; coordinati
