We invite you to join The Arc as a Direct Support Professional and experience a job where every moment is truly meaningful. he Personal Support Assistant will support one or more people living in their own home of their family's home located in a suburban or rural community. The Personal Support Assistant is responsible for supporting person(s) with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) by facilitating and promoting independence, self-advocacy, and decision making. The Personal Support Assistant will support a person's life choices and facilitate opportunities to build relationships. Candidates must meet the following requirements: Possess a high school diploma or equivalent, such as a GED. Have a valid Maryland Driver's License with 2 or fewer points. Have a personal vehicle which will be used to transport those you support. Pass a pre-employment background check. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 75 pounds with assistance. Must complete all required The Arc and DDA trainings Prior experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred. Essential Functions Assist people we support to maximize their independence and personal growth while making individual choices based on their Person-Centered Plan. Ensure goals are developed, implemented and progress benchmarks are being met. Provide support with daily living activities at home and in the community, such as meal preparation, personal care, and the maintenance of a clean and healthy living environment.
