OVERALL SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Chief Growth Officer, the Prospect Researcher will lead and set strategic direction for prospect identification, qualification, and research aimed at reaching annual fundraising goals. They will ensure a steady stream of new prospects researched as being capable of charitable gifts of at least $25,000. Oversees the timely movement of previously identified prospects through the various cultivation stages leading to solicitation. Flexibility to work weekends and evenings consistent with a front-line fundraising role required. All Development staff are expected to assist with the execution of the annual development plan to support meeting the annual organizational budget. Position Responsibilities: The Prospect Researcher is responsible for strategically building a collaborative and centralized prospect management system, while simultaneously providing research, analyses, and robust prospect profiles in support of reaching fundraising goals. This includes proactively identifying prospects, developing relationship-based prospect research, ensuring a systematic moves management process for all front-line fundraisers, coding, and reporting. Train other staff in the compilation and analysis of strategic prospect research information. Write briefings for events and visits and/or ensure that such briefings are compiled by other staff in a timely and effective manner. In consultation with the Chief Growth Officer, establish policies and procedures to create, document and maintain an effective prospect management and tracking system. Organize and lead prospect management strategy sessions. Select and screen resources for new information about potential donors. Conduct prospect searches to match potential funders to projects. Monitor and report on industry and societal trends which might impact fundraising. Assist with major donor identification, prospecting, and cultivation as appropriate. Provides progress reports of activities to date, prospects identified, removed etc. Works in a team environment to effectively represent GDF/AVD and its mission in the community.
