Public Works Director Full-time/Exempt/Non-Represented Position Salary $6,618 - $8,838.23 Monthly (DOQ) The City of Ocean Shores is seeking highly motivated and qualified candidates for the position of Public Works Director. The Public Works Director is responsible for implementing the undertakings of the Public Works Department and assuring the orderly growth and routine maintenance of the city. The position is responsible for oversight and project management in the areas of city streets, sewer collections, water and waste-water treatment, comprehensive land use planning, design review, and evaluating potential environmental impacts through the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) process. Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering, public administration, business administration or closely related field. Two (2) years of experience supervising professional and technical staff. Minimum six (6) years of experience in public works or a similar field, preferably within a municipal organization and demonstrated supervisory experience within a public works department and/or similar public/private sector agency. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make immediate decisions. Must be able to efficiently analyze and diagnose problems, research and interpret municipal codes, RCWs and WACs, understand regulations, manage union employees, interpret legal descriptions, and assess government documents. Must have a valid Washington State Driver's License with a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier. Must be able to pass a background.
