1Job Title: Crime Prevention SpecialistDepartment: PoliceReports To: Community Services LieutenantOpen Date: June 28, 2022Close Date: Open Until FilledHiring Salary: $21.65 - $27.66 per hour, DOESalary Range: $21.65 - $32.47 per hour, DOETo Apply Please Visit: www.meridiancity.orgJob Summary:The incumbent is responsible for the development, implementation, and administration of communitybased crime prevention programs designed to reduce fear of crime, reduction of criminal activity,increase safety, and reduce the likelihood of crime victimization. The position requires strong customerservice skills and an ability to relate to the public. This is a full time non-sworn position.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Works with Meridian Police Department Public Information Officer as needed and has direct oversightof social media; Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and NextDoor as directed community alerts;Develop social media campaigns to further the Police Departments Community Policing efforts;Plan and implement marketing and advertising campaigns for the Police Departments events andprograms;Serve the community through planning, developing and implementing crime prevention programsdesigned with the Crime Prevention Mission and Strategic Plan;Outreach efforts with other City Departments;Markets new and improved evidence-based crime prevention strategies;Administers, helps establish and promotes Neighborhood Watch program, to include maintenance ofcurrent groups and organizing new groups and involving officers in training and communication of thegroups;Works closely with local schools and youth-based organizations;Prepares and conducts training in the areas of personal safety, child safety, bike safety, general crimeprevention, and other related topics, as requested by businesses, citizen and community groups alongwith officers;Develops educational brochures and handouts dealing with crime prevention, and general safetyawareness;Responsible for producing newsletters and conducting training seminars;2Acts as a liaison between the department and community/neighborhood and business programs inorder to disseminate or solicit information;Markets crime prevention programs/strategies;Actively seeks out grant opportunities;Facilitates, manages, coordinates, and plans meetings;A
