Counsel Legal Services State of Connecticut Judicial Branch Hartford The State of Connecticut Judicial Branch, Legal Services Unit located in Hartford is seeking a qualified individual to provide expert advice and recommendations to the Branch on a wide variety of legal and policy issues. Salary Range: $85,758 - $156,528/year – plus State of Connecticut benefits. New employees begin at the minimum. The starting salary for existing state employees may be higher than the minimum, in accordance with existing Judicial Branch policy. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Receives general direction from the Director of Legal Services or other employee of higher grade. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: May supervise lower-level staff as assigned. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Provides expert advice and recommendations to the Legal Services unit on a wide variety of legal and policy issues affecting the Branch; conducts legal research and drafts legal memoranda and opinions; represents the Branch in court and before administrative agencies; negotiates and drafts contracts, license agreements, and other legal agreements for the Branch; acts as an assistant to the Director of Legal Services; drafts proposed changes to rules of practice; reviews and proposes legislation; acts as a liaison with operating units, agencies, and outside officials regarding Branch policies and procedures; performs special projects as assigned; prepares reports and correspondence; represents the unit on a variety of committees; reviews Branch policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant state and federal laws, statutes, and regulations; reviews Branch forms for legal content and efficiency and proposes revisions and the development of new forms; performs legal research and writing for the Rules Committee of the Superior Court and may prepare agenda and minutes of meetings; as secretary to the Wiretap Pan
