The Friends of the NC Museum of Natural Sciences (FNCMNS) is establishing the role of Director of Development to transform its fundraising efforts to align with emerging best practices in the field of advancement. Reporting to the NC Museum of Natural Sciences' Director & CEO and partnering closely with the Executive Director of the FNCMNS, the Director of Development's chief priority is to design and execute a dynamic and responsive fundraising program for the Museum, while carrying forward its existing initiatives. The role will supervise a development team made up of both Museum and FNCMNS staff; design and execute a fundraising approach rooted in Museum's Strategic Plan, including leading long-term development initiatives, member management, donor stewardship, and nurturing relationships with new and existing funding partners. The Director of Development should be donor-driven, functioning as a community voice within the Museum, championing donor aspirations and concerns with staff and board members. The role will be expected to establish measures that shape and drive performance and to create an effective monitoring framework based on those measures. The role will use business excellence frameworks that provide continuous quality improvement and risk anticipation.
