THE DIVISION The City of Visalia's CIP Engineering Division is part of the City's Administration Department and serves the community by providing a wide range of engineering services such as project and construction management, surveying, traffic engineering, encroachment permits, and inspection. The Division is responsible for the development and implementation of municipal infrastructure projects through the City's adopted multi-year Capital Improvement Program (CIP) that includes a broad spectrum of CIP projects including the design, construction, and maintenance of the City's Intelligent Transportation Systems infrastructure. The Division's staff of engineers, technicians, surveyors, inspectors, and administrative staff are committed to customer service, safety, and providing high-quality engineering support and services to other City Departments and the Public. Examples of Duties POSITION The CIP (Capital Improvement Program) Engineering Division is recruiting for a Traffic Information Systems Specialist. The Traffic Information Systems Specialist under the direction of a senior level engineer will be responsible for the implementation and management of information technology systems that support the Intelligent Transportations Systems (ITS) infrastructure in conjunction with the continuing implementation and management of the Traffic Management Center (TMC). This position will oversee and maintain the underlying network in addition to integrating all new traffic systems and ITS systems into the City's growing ITS infrastructure all while coordinating with the separate City of Visalia network.
