University Libraries is seeking a Project Archivist (2-Year Term Position) to arrange and describe archival collections held and managed by the Western History Collections at the University of Oklahoma Norman campus. Job Duties: Arrangement and Description Arranges and describes manuscript collections in accordance with established archival standards. Prepares inventories of records and manuscript collections. Labels and shelves collection boxes. Develops work plans, in coordination with other WHC and OUL staff, which records basic information about the collections and suggests proposed arrangement schemes. Writes finding aids, describing the author / creator of the records as well as the subject content of each collection; finding aids also include detailed box and folder inventories. Assists in creating descriptive metadata for materials in accordance with national stand-ards, for use in EAD (Encoded Archival Description) finding aids and MARC bibliographic records, including applying consistent descriptive metadata to collection materials with ArchivesSpace. Assists in creating an Archive Processing Procedure document for use during the project period and to guide WHC staff beyond the project period. Consult appropriate resources regarding issues associated with Indigenous languages, if necessary, which could include authors, tribal language programs, dictionaries, etc. Reporting and Resource Tracking Collects, compiles, and delivers information and data for statistical and narrative reports. Maintains proficiency in all workflows, policies, and systems necessary for processing. Preservation Identifies collections, materials, and individual items in need of preservation treatment. Performs routine preservation applications to paper items and occasional artifacts. Perform basic preservation work such as unfolding and flattening documents, and transfer-ring materials to new, acid-free folders. Promotion and Reference Provides occasional promotional and reference assistance as directed.
