The City of Eden is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Water and Wastewater Operator to support our Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants. Operates, monitors, and maintains the city's water and wastewater treatment facilities, records data, collects samples, and overall system process control in compliance with city, state, federal, and regulatory agency guidelines. Tracks and manages operational procedures for all water facilities and distribution system, as well as wastewater facilities and collection system; prepares reports for compliance with TCEQ regulations as required. Performs routine inspections of water and wastewater treatment facilities, monitors wells, pump stations, lift stations and related equipment for proper operations. Controls pressure and flow of water in the distribution system; maintains water pressure; operates, oils, and adjusts pumps and machinery. Interacts in a professional and respectful manner with City staff and the public and ensures a safe working environment internally and externally to the division. Remains on-call to monitor and troubleshoot operations of the water and wastewater Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System. Performs such other related duties as may be assigned. Requirements Progressive responsible experience in public works, including water, wastewater treatment operations; or, any equivalent combination of training and experience. Must possess a valid Texas Class C Driver's License (Class A preferred) Class "C" Wastewater (preferred) and "C" Groundwater licensing (TCEQ), or higher Knowledge of and experience working with TCEQ on reporting requirements for water & wastewater systems and facilities. Previous experience reporting water quality issues and preparing public communication as required by TCEQ regulations including annual water quality reporting. Must pass a pre-employment drug screening. Knowledge of procedures, materials, safety procedures, and equipment involved in the installation, repair, operation and maintenance of department infrastructure and functions.
