Heart of Compassion

Heart of Compassion serves the under served and in many instances provides the only fresh foods and goods a family may see during the week. The Fighting Hunger - Feeding Hope program provides emergency food boxes filled with nutritious and healthy food options including fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as essential goods to individuals and families throughout Montebello and the greater Los Angeles area on a (weekly/monthly/annual) basis. As part of the City of Montebello CDBG funded program, HOC volunteers requested Montebello residents to complete a Participation Data Form. On average, about 65% of the participants agreed to complete the form. Some were reluctant, while others refused to complete the form. As such, the reported activity represents only those participants who completed a Participation Data Form. As participants returned, our volunteers would track the certified individuals via the daily/weekly sign in sheets. HOC is happy to report they served 1000 Montebello residents during the 2015/2016 4th Quarter. Of the 1000 participants, 99.9% are categorized under Extreme Poverty or Extremely Low Income, and a total of 42 confirmed female head of households among the participants. HOC anticipates they will report quadruple the participation next fiscal year now that individuals are completing the Data Participation Forms and our volunteers have a system in place to track Montebello participants --
