Job Overview: A forklift operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise and materials. This position plays a key role in the smooth operation of warehouses, distribution centers, or construction sites, ensuring materials are moved efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate a forklift to transport materials to and from storage areas, loading docks, and production lines.
Load and unload materials from trucks or containers using a forklift.
Safely stack and organize products in the warehouse or storage area.
Inspect forklifts before use to ensure safety standards are met and perform basic maintenance or report any issues.
Assist in inventory management by counting, tagging, and labeling products.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment by following safety protocols and warehouse procedures.
Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for safe handling of materials.
Collaborate with team members to ensure an efficient flow of goods.
Report any accidents, damage, or unsafe conditions to the supervisor immediately.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid forklift operator certification.
Previous experience operating a forklift in a warehouse or similar setting is preferred.
Ability to lift heavy objects and work in a physically demanding environment.
Knowledge of safety regulations and protocols.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Skills:
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely.
Basic math skills for inventory tracking.
