Growing meat processing / distribution company located in Vernon is looking to hire a Quality Control Manager to join their team.

Quality Control Manager ensures product safety, quality standards, and regulatory compliance (USDA/FSIS) by overseeing HACCP programs, sanitation, and testing. They manage quality teams, inspect raw materials, conduct audits, and handle non-conformance issues to prevent contamination and maintain product specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain HACCP, GMPs, and Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOPs). Ensure compliance with USDA, FDA, and local regulations.
Monitor raw materials and finished products for quality, safety, and defects. Perform, review, and document product tests (microbiological, chemical).
Manage product specifications and ensure production adheres to quality standards. Conduct shelf-life studies and sensory evaluations.
Supervise, train, and schedule QC staff, technicians, and plant employees on food safety protocols.
Coordinate and lead internal and external audits (e.g., BRC, SQF). Act as the primary contact for food safety issues and regulatory inspectors.
Investigate customer complaints, identify root causes, and implement corrective/preventive actions.
Collaborate with production on new product development and equipment calibration (e.g., scales, sensors).
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
Typically 3-5+ years of experience in food manufacturing, with a focus on meat processing or slaughterhouse operations.
HACCP certification (often required or preferred).
Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, auditing procedures, and laboratory testing methods.
