Job Title: Recycling Center Sorter/Purchaser
Location: Montebello, CA
Job Type:Fulltime Monday - Saturday
Monday-Friday 8-4:30pm
Saturday: 8am-1:30pm
48 hours weekly.
Pay Rate: $18 hourly. (Weekly Overtime).
We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Recycling Center Sorter/Purchaser to join our team. This role involves sorting recyclable materials and assessing incoming items for purchase based on quality, weight, and material type. The ideal candidate will be dependable, safety-conscious, and committed to environmental responsibility.
Purchasing Duties:
*Inspect and weigh incoming recyclable materials brought in by the public or commercial clients.
*Determine fair pricing based on material type, weight, and market value.
*Accurately record transactions and issue receipts or payment as required.
General Responsibilities:
*Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
*Follow all safety guidelines and wear required PPE.
*Assist customers and answer questions regarding acceptable materials.
*Operate forklifts, balers, or other machinery as trained and required.
*Communicate with supervisors about material shortages, equipment issues, or safety concerns.
Qualifications:
Prior experience in recycling, warehouse, or materials handling is a plus.
Basic math and communication skills required.
Customer service experience.
Ability to adapt to outside environment.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in outdoor or non-climate-controlled environments.
Attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Working Conditions:
Primarily outdoor or warehouse setting.
Exposure to varying weather, dust, and noise levels.
Standing, bending, and manual labor for extended periods.
